A juvenile judge oversees legal cases that involve minors. Judges preside over hearings and ultimately make decisions about delinquency, abuse or neglect, custody, and other matters affecting a child’s safety and well-being.
A probate judge oversees legal cases that involve estates, including validating wills, appointing executors, and resolving disputes among beneficiaries. A probate judge also helps protect individuals with disabilities by appointing guardians, overseeing their care, and ensuring their rights and well-being are safeguarded.
The probate judge appoints park district commissioners who are entrusted with managing public lands and serving the community’s long-term interests through responsible stewardship of the park district.
